Carpenter Bee Traps

Carpenter bee traps are used to catch and kill carpenter Bees and they will also catch wasps with the carpenter bees. They work because the carpenter bee is lazy and will reuse existing holes. So, it is important to poison holes and plug any old holes in your house and then hang a trap for them to use. There will be a certain time of the year when they will use the holes for raising more bees. Do not be concerned if you are not catching anything right away. When they are ready, they will use the trap. I put mine out in the spring as soon as I see them flying around and getting on the flowering trees. I take mine down in the fall and store for the next spring. Different climate conditions for different areas will dictate when they start using the holes.

If carpenter bees do enough damage and then the woodpeckers find the larvae, the woodpeckers will do major damage to your wood home.

They can be hung from the eye hook wire, Note I no longer make the swing out board for wall mount. An eye hook in a wall can be used to hang the wire from. It is long enough to reach the wall.

The bottom is held on with two screws and can be removed to replace the bottles if needed. All staples that hold the bottles are hidden between the boards. I use a heavy weight soda bottle for the trap.

My traps are quality proven to catch carpenter bees and last if they are taken down for the winter and stored. They are constructed of 100% new 3/4" spruce and pine. Nails and outdoor glue hold them together. Be aware of other companies that might use plywood to build the box, I have seen them separate on the plywood laminations after one season.
